Come on coach, let me play!

I'm finding it more and more difficult to understand WDW management every day. It appears that we have more gift shops than attractions and the next few refurbs promise... What? Could it be? No.. Is it? YUP, more gift shops. HUH?!? I'm not going to lie, my house is filled with Disney stuff. However I didn't move to Orlando for the amazing gift shops, you know?

Grrr.. It's Corporate America that is killing the mouse. The people responsible for the monstrosity that is our Tomorrowland are being promoted at exponential rates. Tomorrowland? Where? Our Space Mountain is a museum of what WDW and coasters *used* to be like. The people mover seems like it hasn't been refurbised since Regan was in office. (Heck at least we still have ours, DLs is just concrete waste) Pixar and Disney characters have exploded all over the place. Meanwhile every foreign park that Disney is affiliated with has amazing new attractions coming out. What gives?

Remember waaaaaaaay back when you would visit WDW and there was always a new attraction coming soon? Gave you a reason to come back.. It peaked your interest. You just HAD to come back. Heck you were planning your next vacation while you were in the parks.. Hmm.. What happened? Greed. That's what. I can't blame them. Disney makes bank. Good for them. Well I have a proposition for them. What if we took every Disney fan in the world and had them invest the cost of a typical Disney vacation. For fun, let's say $3,000. We take that $$ and put it into an account and form a corporation. Let's say there are 12.5 Million Disney fans out there. That would be $37,500,000,000. That's right. Thirty seven Billion dollars. Now what? We buy the American Disney parks from the Disney corporation. "We" you ask? Well that would be you and your 12+ million closest friends. Congratulations, you are now the proud owner of a great slice of America.

So we buy the parks back and let WDI get crazy. Bring back the excitement. Have them redevelop the parks. Turn MGM & DAK into full day parks. Restore Epcot to EPCOT Center and for crying out loud get rid of that hideous arm above Spaceship Earth. Turn Tomorrowland into a real land of tomorrow. Restore the Tiki Room back to what it was and fire whoever wrote the script for the current version. Turn the peoplemover into something that actually moves people.. GASP. Expand the monorail system. Get rid of the busses and do something truly forward thinking. Remind the other guys why they are just theme parks and we are the Vacation Kingdom of the World. For the love of God, pay our cast members a decent salary. We expect them to deliver magic to us for a poverty level lifestyle? Come on..

Ok, so can I convince 12.5 million people to chip in to my dream? Doubtful. It just seems obvious to me the few things that would generate happier guests and cast members. Let's keep it simple.

1) Happy Cast Members = Happy Experiences. Happy Experiences = Happy Guests. Therefore Happy Cast Members = Happy Guests. (Who said I never paid attention in math class?)

2) Build all the gift shops you want. Heck, put registers in the bathroom stalls for all I care. Just follow this formula. 2 E ticket attractions for every gift shop. What If you build an attraction with a gift shop? Oh well you get 2 more attractions. If ya can't beat em, join em.

3) Stop replacing attractions at WDW. We have the room. Start building. Create. Don't hack and slash. According to - Walt Disney's EPCOT Center Creating the New World of Tomorrow EPCOT is to be continually updated. Not open seasonally. "Nor will Future World remain static. Several displays are designed to incorporate advances as they come of age, and additional pavilions are planned in Future World's future."

So let's build Fire Mountian and Villian Mountain. Flush out a Villian land for MK. Bring back 20k in some sense at the park. Move all of the Pixar creatures out of Tomorrowland and into a massive pavilion in the animation section of the studios. Start a Jack Skellington Halloween party at the Studios every year. Bring back Future World. Add a few thrilling attractions and mix it up with Omnimover ones, I bet ya 5:1 people go to the 'slow dark rides' too. Bring back in-park transportation, it's hot out there!! Keep it up with DAK, finish the park. Fix the tram tour at the studios. Re-open River Country. Remove or fix the fastpass system. It doesn't work. Innovate, inspire, create, dare, dream. Remember when WDI was allowed to do all of that? Just do something please! I'd hate to have my child's first Disney memories be of a really well themed gift shop.

So come on coach, let me play. I certainly can't do worse than the last guy....
